Computers supplied by Pembrokeshre College and wellwishers have been donated to a number of needy NGOs and projects. In 2010, through the generosity of a visiting family, their friends and work colleagues, a local school has been fitted out with a refurbished classroom, solar power and computers. Regular classes are held teaching IT to teachers and pupils.
It is our desire to extend this project to all the primary schools local to Fisherman's Rest.
Just as with the introduction and rapid uptake of cellphones, computers and requisite IT skills are becoming part of Malawian everyday life. Many of our primary school children will require these skills by the time they graduate to full time employment.
Computers, powerpoint projectors and prepared curriculums are brilliant tools for high quality delivery of lessons. It will be a huge benefit to teachers and to students as they learn to prepare lessons and apply them with these modern delivery methods.
