Fisherman's Rest, located in 50 acres of private parkland with antelope, overlooking the Great Rift Valley offers an excellent venue for a relaxing holiday with a memorable difference. It is 15 minutes from Blantyre, while only a 45 minute drive away from three very different wildlife parks.

Fisherman’s Rest has been established to serve the local community, environment and Malawi through individuals, groups, families and teams who have a desire to learn, understand and connect with other cultures and continents.

Visitors with a desire to take an active role in projects and community work are able to join in with our programs. This depends on the requirements, expectations and skills of the visitors on the one hand and the needs of the communities and projects on the other. By way of example, some ‘alternative holidays’ are outlined in the packages link.

Our setting is excellent for families and groups travelling together.

Our involvement with the rural communities includes hands on practical work in schools, clinics, prisons, orphanages, churches and villages.

We like to offer an experience encompassing variety and depth, enjoying the luxuries, seeing the beauty of Malawi, encouraging awareness of rural life and enriching the lives of our visitors.
